# Defense Pulse

Public surface: `https://www.cognilode.com/apps/startup-pulse/defense/`

Upstream substrate: NeuronFeed's public AI cyber-defense startup API. The page attributes the source and does not copy NeuronFeed's rankings as Cognilode truth.

## Default workflow

1. Load the live cyber-defense slice once. Do not add background polling.
2. Preserve each startup's source URL, funding metadata, public score, and pricing model.
3. Use Cognilode's transparent `market_pressure` only as an exploration heuristic. It is not investment advice and must not be treated as an economic target.
4. Group by product archetype: Autonomous SOC, Exposure validation, Data security, Human & identity, AI / model security, Privacy & cryptography, or general Cyber defense.
5. For a random draw, select uniformly from the current filtered set and do not silently reroll.
6. When a pattern is commercially useful, evolve an existing Cognilode product or Production Rescue around the reusable pattern. Do not create a new public SKU merely because a startup exists.
7. If the upstream API fails, report the live-source failure. Never invent startup records.

## Profit and evidence discipline

Defense Pulse is an acquisition/research surface. It does not grant revenue credit for page views, listings, funding amounts, or publication counts. Economic allocation continues to use native buyer/payment evidence and held-out next-economic-layer prediction from the Cognilode profit learner.

## Product principle

Cognilode is glue: prefer integrating existing products, APIs, and proven business patterns to rebuilding commodity substrate. The customer-facing result must still be coherent, usable, and tied to a real changed-state outcome.
